Thanksgiving in Orlando was a big success on all counts.  The girls had a challenging first match against West Pine United FC, a fast, physical team from South Florida.  The Bays fell behind early but came right back and tied the game.  It was 2-2 at halftime, but the Bays came out fired up and scored two goals in the second half to win going away, 4-2.  Later that evening, the girls played under the lights against Birmingham United Soccer Association (BUSA), a team that has had lots of statewide success -- they won the Alabama State Cup last year.  Once again, the Bays gave up an early goal and then fell behind 2-0 after 25 minutes, and it was going to be a steep hill to climb.  But a Bays goal after a nice buildup brought the score to 2-1 just before halftime.  Unfortunately, that's also how the game ended, as the girls were unable to find the equalizer, despite having many good chances in the second half.  Going into the final game of group play, the Bays needed a win to move to the semi-finals.  In an excellent game against the Atlanta Fire Elite, the Bays played their best game of the tournament but could only manage a 0-0 tie.  They had most of the possession, especially during the final 20 minutes when they hit the crossbar and the post during a two-minute span, but Atlanta's defense held on, and the tie got them through to the semi-finals, where they lost to the eventual Showcase Champions, East Lake Arsenal Elite (FL).

All in all, this was a terrific experience for the '96 Bays.  They finished 1-1-1 against three of the stronger teams in Region II and showed that they could raise their game to match the level of their competition.  Now the team turns it attention to the off-season, getting some rest, and preparing for the Region 1 Premier League and State Cup in the spring.

Bays at WAGS - Unbelievable effort
These girls continue to amaze us. After going through the preliminary matches on Saturday and Sunday with a record of 2-0-1, the Bays were ready for a run at the title come Monday. The initial round of competition saw the Bays play some great soccer. The goals came, and the defense held, and we played our typical possession type soccer. The team that hasn't had much time together this fall due to high school committments, was finally coming together. However, on Monday morning we lost 5 of our High School players as they had games. Of the 11 remaining, a portion of them were sick, so quite a task ahead for the group that remained. We won in the semi-final, 2-0 against the State Champs from South Carolina. No subs available, and without 5 starters, it was awesome to see our girls step up and play so well. 2 hours later, the final awaited against BSA Rage.. The game was very back ond forth and was tied 1-1 with 15 minutes left when the Rage scored off a corner kick. A well played game... We all were amazed by the effort put forth, our 5th game in 3 days, no subs, and we actually finished the game with 10 players due to an injury. These experiences will bode well for the future. Welcome back High School Girls, we can't wait until we can all practice together again, and prepare for our trip to Disney where 2 State Champs await us!!

Keystone Classic:  Couldn't be prouder of a group of girls.  Special things are in store for a VERY talented group.  Really had an awesome weekend playing in the top bracket that included 2 state Champs...  Started off the weekend with a win against Cherry Hill..  Second game of the day was against the Ohio State Champs, Internationals...  They were playing their first game of the day and we were coming off a tough match an hour earlier.  They went up 1-0, but we fought back to take the lead 2-1 at half.  An early goal by Internationals tied the game 2-2, and it remained that way until a great goal with 5 minutes left off a corner kick that sent the Bays to defeat.  What an incredible effort and an awesome match.  Sunday brought a 0-0 tie against a much improved PA Classics team, and then another matchup an hour later against the Richmond Kickers, Va. State Champs.  Again the Bays playing their second game of the day while Richmond was coming in fresh.  The odds weren't in our favor, however, our girls steped up BIGTIME, and totally dominated the first half to lead 1-0..  A goal early in the second half had us up 2-0 with less than 10 minutes left.  We were trying to hang on as Richmond pushed numbers forward.  Give credit to the State Champs as they fought back for a 2-2 tie.  Our girls are competing with the highest levels and competing well.  It is such a good brand of soccer and so fun to watch.  What a great tourney, and we were within reach of the championship.   Great things are ahead, as this group is finally reaching it's full potential!!

Spirit Kickoff Classic:  Building on a very successful spring season, the Bays started off the fall with a great run through the Spirit United tournament, one of the top tournaments in the region by making it to the Semi-Finals in the top bracket.  A tough loss on Pk's was the only thing keeping the Bays from the Final.

WE are incredibly excited about our clubs partnership with CHELSEA and the opportunities that this will provide all of the kids in our club.  We will be looking to build on all of our successes and continue to improve as a team.    Our goal is to be the best in the state and region, all the while teaching the game and life lessons with the core values of honesty, integrity, and hard work!!

Spring 2009 was a great season.  The team was undefeated in the prestigious REGION 1 league with a 6-0-1 record and clinched the Eastern Division Title.

Finished in first place in the PAGS PREMIERSHIP with an  incredible 8-1 record in one of the top leagues in region 1.  Lost in the semi-final in a PK Shootout, but an incredible fall season!!

CHAMPIONS of the 20th annual Colleen Reilly Invitational played in Horsham, PA August 15-16.  Awesome jobs girls!!
