Baltimore Bays 00/01 won the U-15 Potomac Division championship competing in its home state, capping off an unbeaten run through Bracket B with wins over Loudoun 00 Red and Commack Great Danes in the knockout stages.

Bays outlasted New York side Commack in the final on Monday morning, coming out on top 3-2 in a high-flying contest on the Maryland SoccerPlex’s stadium field. The highest scoring team in the U-15 Potomac Division continued its hot streak on the attacking side, as Tajhon Willisand Ryan Belfiore proved to be an unstoppable tandem even against elite level defenses.

Willis’ playmaking abilities were on full display in the first half, as he set up two Belfiore goals to give Bays a 2-0 lead at the intermission. Willis showed precision on both mid-range and long-range passes, connecting with Belfiore who converted the quick-strike opportunities with powerful finishes after repeatedly splitting the defense.

Despite going down by two goals at the half, Commack would not go away quietly, cutting the lead to one midway through the second period. However, Willis would put the game away a few minutes later, extending Baltimore’s lead to 3-1 with a goal of his own, beating the defense with game-breaking speed and a strong finish.

The third goal would prove to be critical for Baltimore, as Commack pulled within a goal once again in the closing minutes, but would not have enough time to net an equalizer.
